Meet our Employees

Anella has been a member of the Amtrak team for 23 years, and started her career as an attendant on the Auto Train. Since then she has worked as a Ticket Agent, Station Manager, District Manager, Director of Long Distance, and is now the Superintendent of On Board Service in New York City. While working for Amtrak, Anella earned her MBA in 2013 through our tuition reimbursement program. 

Oren is conductor on the San Joaquins train out of Oakland, California who started at Amtrak later than most - joining Team Amtrak after serving in the military for 28 years. If you've ever wanted to know what it is like to be a conductor (they do more than just collect tickets!), or if Amtrak is a great place for veterans, this is one employee profile you won't want to miss.

Jenny is a Navy veteran and a Senior Director in Amtrak's Program Management Office. She manages a team of talented and creative professionals who have three primary objectives: set company-wide standards for Project Management, train Amtrak Project Managers to follow One Amtrak Way for managing projects, and develop tools that help Amtrak's Senior Leaders understand how our projects are performing against the plan.

Aretha, also known as the “A/C Queen," has worked for 22 years at Amtrak's Beech Grove facility in Indiana as a pipe fitter. Since becoming trained and certified to repair A/C units, she has been performing that task on our Superliner fleet for the past seven years. Her philosophy is to do your job well, work hard, and to have a “tough skin.”

Ryan is a Capital Construction Manager in the Engineering Department who has been with Amtrak full time for almost five years. The projects Ryan manages require teamwork between several Amtrak departments, contractors, agencies, and utility companies and can range from a few months to multiple years. One project he is currently overseeing is the creation of Hanson Interlocking, in Maryland, on Amtrak’s busy Northeast Corridor.

Jelena started at Amtrak earlier this year as a Principal Project Manager on the Project Delivery team in our Engineering Department. That group is tasked with developing and coordinating plans for new Amtrak infrastructure projects and tracking the implementation of those projects to successful completion.

Sammy is a 2018 graduate of George Mason University, former Amtrak intern, and current web developer in our IT department. He was hired full time after doing an internship where he learned how to use Adobe AEM, which powers many of Amtrak’s websites.

Meet our management trainees

Mickey is a recent graduate of The College of New Jersey, majoring in Civil Engineering with a minor in Physics. He started his career at Amtrak as an intern in the Engineering Track Department in Philadelphia in 2017, and was later hired full-time as a Management Trainee in the June 2018 class.

Andrew is a 2017 graduate of Penn State Altoona’s Rail Transportation Engineering program. He started his career in the railroad industry with internships at both Norfolk Southern and Amtrak, and was later hired by Amtrak full-time as a Management Trainee for the June 2018 class. 

Meet our interns

Noah is a Mechanical Engineering major at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. His internship in the System Safety department at Amtrak, where our employees come up with new ways to make our trains safer. Interns assist in performing engineering reviews, and analyses of railroad infrastructure and components to improve reliability and to enhance safety on America's Railroad.

Nevaeh is a Project Management intern in Amtrak's Engineering department. She is currently a student at the University at Buffalo, and is pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. Project manager interns assist in a wide variety of tasks, from design plan reviews, survey operations, and track geometry inspections to administrative support to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Annette is a graduate Communications intern with Amtrak's Police Department. She attends Wilmington University as a communications major, with a focus in integrated marketing. A major part of her job with the APD is targeted around railroad safety initiatives. Annette is also a veteran currently serving in the US Navy reserves.
