SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Senior Engineer is responsible for the management of the field implementation of the reference surfacing program.  This includes the coordination with high speed surfacing managers and track designers within the engineering production and design groups.  It requires the creation of curve designs and the utilization of those designs in conjunction with  field measurements of current of curve conditions to create tamping solutions for field implementation. The incumbent must work with tamper operators and supervisors to implement and troubleshoot the solutions in the field.  The incumbent must also manage the collection of track input data as well as the as-built data from completed work.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•    Manage the implementation of reference tamping operations of the production surfacing gangs 
•    Develop the process of creating track designs in conjunction with the Engineer track geometry
•    Coordinate process of creating curve designs with Track Design group
•    Manage the collection of current curve condition measurements utilizing various means including Tamper, TGC and surveying inputs
•    Create tamping solutions for the surfacing gang’s tamper operations using the completed track designs
•    Overseeing the implementation of tamping solutions with high speed surfacing field supervisors 
•    Coordinate collection of as-built data behind high speed surfacing operation
•    Update curve database with as-built data


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•    Must have at least 5 years of experience on railroad projects
•    Demonstrated experience managing large-scale, multi-discipline projects
•    Excellent organizational skills
•    Demonstrated ability to work independently and make critical decisions
•    Demonstrated experience reviewing data for completeness
•    Experience working with team members from multiple disciplines
•    Must be able to organize tasks/thoughts in a logical manner 
•    Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point)
•    Must be able to obtain and maintain qualification on Amtrak safety rules, AMT-2, NORAC.
•    Prior satisfactory job performance
•    Possess a motorized vehicle operator license


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Demonstrated experience with Plasser American’s AGGS software
•    Demonstrated experience with track design 
•    Extensive experience with railroad operations, procedures and special equipment
•    Knowledge of surveying 
•    Knowledge of GNSS CORS networks
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
