What interested you in Amtrak?

“I always had a passion for passenger rail. I wanted to do my part in improving America’s railroad.”

What attracted you to the management trainee program?

“As an intern here I always heard good things about the Management Trainee Program, so naturally it was the next step in my career with Amtrak.”

What are some of the highlights of being a management trainee?

"One big highlight is the ability to meet and be close with those in executive positions. It is great to pick their brain and learn from them. They also want to hear from us and see what ideas we have. It has been stated to us that we are the future of this company, and I’ve never felt as if they did not want to hear what we had to say, whether they are ideas or questions. The staff is very welcoming, and our managers have been a tremendous joy to work with. They are always there to answer any questions we may have, and guide us as well."

What rotation has been memorable for you thus far?
The structures rotation.

"Up until then, I never really understood how miter rail worked. I had never seen a movable bridge operate up close before, so our tour of the Spuyten Duyvil bridge was interesting to see."

What is your favorite thing about working for Amtrak?

"It’s no secret that I love my job here at Amtrak. I feel as if they definitely care about their employees, the pay is great, and you get great perks with your employee badge (free Amtrak rides is a big one)."

What advice would you give students thinking about a career with Amtrak?

"Amtrak is a big company. There's much more than engineering, and something for everyone, regardless if you major in Civil, Electrical, Business, Accounting, Finance, Management, Criminal Justice, etc. You can definitely find something that you would be interested in."
