Perform front-line passenger service duties such as assisting passengers with carry-on baggage and special service requests including mobility and general boarding assistance.

•Properly check, receive handle and deliver checked baggage and express.
•Red Caps are to assist passengers in the movement of parcels and luggage within the station and station facilities.
• Must be familiar with Amtrak trains, timetables and connections.
•Must be capable of handling customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
•Must be familiar with the station layout and be qualified to operate station elevators.
•Understand and apply appropriate tariffs.
•Ensure that reports are done properly and promptly.
•Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
•Comply with Amtrak's uniform and grooming policy; present a positive, professional image on behalf of Amtrak through manners, actions and speech.
•Communicate clearly and professionally. Work safely and as a member of a team.
•Other duties as assigned by Supervisors.

•Demonstrated experience safely working with heavy equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
•Demonstrated ability to work independently.


•High School Diploma or GED
•Must be qualified to operate electrical and battery powered equipment.
•Must have a valid Operator's License.


Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.



A sign-on bonus of up to $12,500 may be available for candidates possessing two or more years of railroad experience. Most sign-on bonuses will be paid out in the next pay cycle following the first 30 days of employment and should be paid out in one installment. Larger bonuses may be paid out in multiple installments and subject to specific conditions and crafts. The bonus is deemed fully earned after twenty-four (24) months of active employment. Should you leave the company, for any reason, voluntary or involuntary, before you have completed twenty-four (24) months of active employment from your start date of this position, you will be required to pay back your sign-on bonus. This Sign-on Bonus is not part of your base pay, is not included in salary calculations for retirement, and the bonus amount is stated in gross amounts and shall be subject to all applicable withholding taxes, other normal payroll deductions, and any other amounts required by law to be withheld. The employee understands that the Sign-on Bonus is forfeited if the employee fails to report to work.
