Job Summary

Provide support to the fund source management process, including determinations of funding sources for a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of activities. Prepare grants financial reporting, complex data analysis and reconciliations of fund sources, as well as systems maintenance and updates. Provide budgeting, financial analysis, and grants management support to project managers across the organization to ensure projects are being delivered in accordance with federal regulations and grants requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Update and maintain fund sources information in financial systems and provide data analysis and reconciliations and work with various departments to ensure grants are set up correctly in the financial systems.
  • Preparation of internal and external reporting of expenditures by fund source and provide data support related to internal and external audits.
  • Support the pre-award application and post-award processes of federal grants, gather and analyze financial and narrative data, prepare and submit periodic reports to fulfill grantor requirements and provide context for management decisions.
  • Maintain detailed files and electronic records of grant documents and grant requirements according to generally accepted best practices for grants management.
  • Prepare and track payment requests, analyze grant expenditures and activities to ensure they are allowable according to agreements, solve any deficiencies and propose corrective actions to avoid unallowable activities to be posted against the grants.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 6 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 8 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated advanced skill in financial analysis and reporting, including the use of budgeting tools, spreadsheets, and related systems to support grant management activities.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate written documentation and effectively convey information verbally.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in the preparation, review, and maintenance of financial records and grant‑related documentation.
  • Proficiency in standard business and office applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, used to analyze data, document processes, and present information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast‑paced environment, effectively organizing time and work to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

The salary/hourly range is $94,300.00 – $122,256.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
