JOB SUMMARY:

 

This role is heavily focused on hands-on multimedia production, including video creation, editing, and visual content development across digital and social channels.

 

This role contributes to the development of digital, print, social media, video, and internal communications content that advances corporate communications priorities, infrastructure storytelling, executive messaging, stakeholder engagement, and brand campaigns. The Communications Specialist, independently coordinates production schedules, maintain creative assets within Amtrak’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, and contributes to the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Communications Content Studio. The primary focus of this role is creative services, but the role also operates across the full communications spectrum by developing strategies and content for owned, earned, and shared channels.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Develop multimedia content (video, photography, graphics, and presentations) to support GACC initiatives, executive communications, and internal/external storytelling.
  • Plan and execute production support for events, infrastructure projects, executive engagements, and stakeholder initiatives through photography and videography.
  • Produce and edit video content (short- and long-form) for social media, digital campaigns, and enterprise communications.
  • Design branded visual assets including graphics, motion graphics, and animations aligned with Amtrak’s visual identity and campaign objectives.
  • Support content development and messaging, including copywriting, scriptwriting, and social media content for multimedia campaigns.
  • Manage content operations and assets, including maintaining the Digital Asset Management system, tracking projects/calendars, and supporting studio operations and workflows.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Production, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in communications, multimedia production, digital content creation, or creative services.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. Plus 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with Amtrak, passenger rail, infrastructure projects, and transportation storytelling is preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

 

  • Experience with photography, videography, video editing, graphic design, social media content creation, and visual storytelling.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud tools including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and After Effects preferred.
  • Familiarity with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and file organization best practices is a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills with experience supporting social media copy, messaging, script writing, or key message development.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced communications environment.

The salary/hourly range is $78,600.00 – $101,844.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
