This position is a tiered position. Incumbents will have a position level assigned based on their skills and experience, and in alignment with position development plans. Position placement is at Amtrak’s sole and absolute discretion.

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Quality Process Engineer through quality management and process techniques, supports the practice of controlling exactly how a mechanical process delivers maintenance aligned with customer requirements. This position will support continuous improvement initiatives ensuring a high level of quality that meets mechanical expectation regarding established KPI’s.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Performs the review and improvement of systems and processes to ensure satisfaction of predetermined quality standards 
• Analyzes, identifies, and implement process improvements to enhance capability and quality system performance
• Supports quality meetings with production and cross functional teams to capture and create solutions and purpose recommendations on efficiencies and quality enhancements
• Coordinates Solution Focus Team activities such as agendas to help organize necessary improvements and make process changes related issues in the production environment
• Reviews and ensures safety requirements are clear and concise, as well as, are followed based on the production process

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Working knowledge of productivity and/or quality improvements through quality and process engineering techniques
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Process Engineering (minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in lieu of degree).
• Creative problem-solving skills and strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects/processes effectively to timely conclusions
• Proficient in MS Office applications including Access and Project software
• Familiarity of compliance areas and accepted practices.
• Ability to learn new tasks (both complex and routine) in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities
• Strong written/oral communication skills
• Flexibility to work extended hours if required

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Developing skills with Process Management implementation and Control.
• Working knowledge and experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
• Familiarity with various data management business systems including SAP, Ariba and WMS.
• Knowledge in the railroad or transportation industry. 5 or more years of relevant work experience.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
