Why did you want to be an intern at Amtrak?

It's a company with a large name, and everyone kind of knows Amtrak from its logo, and its brand, and its trains. From my childhood I would always see the trains going by and think that must be something interesting to be involved in.

What was the most exciting part about being an intern?

The projects - I took a form that everyone was using, and I made it digital, which was interesting, and a nice learning experience. It finally was rolled out this week, so the work is paying off.

What was your favorite part of being an Amtrak intern?

The experience! It's a railroad, and I'm kind of a rail fan, so it was great to get that initial experience of actually working for a railroad. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my career when I when I graduate, so I think this is helping to clarify that a little bit, it's letting me see all the different aspects of what I could be in the future.

“Being in the safety department is a good experience because it gives you the whole spectrum of things you can learn about with the railroad. Things that you might not be able to get with another internship elsewhere.
