ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
• Has the overall responsibility for all Track, B&B and Structure related maintenance and capital improvement activities on the Central Division. Assists the Deputy Division Engineer in the preparation of plans for Track, B&B and Structure improvements ensuring all projects are initiated using the department’s guidelines and that maintenance and construction programs support the existing schedule and maintain a safe and dependable environment for all train operations.
• Must be intricately involved in the development of work activities, funding, spend plan and project schedules.
• Coordinate maintenance and construction projects with other departments, control force levels on the division by advertising/abolishing craft positions
• Ensures regular inspections are made and the summary maintenance reports are provided to appropriate Amtrak management and the FRA.
• Ensures all aspects of the physical plant meet or exceed current FRA standards.
• Monitors the procurement status of all material and ensures proper installation of materials.
• Provides input to safety plan and emergency response plans for the Central Division.
• Implements safety plan for the prevention and elimination of personal injuries and hazardous conditions on the right-of-way.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• 7 years of relevant work experience.
• BS degree in engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or
• experience.
• MW-1000 qualified, RWP qualified and General Code qualified.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Track, B&B and Structure construction, maintenance, and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of track usage process.
• Working knowledge of Bridges & Buildings, Communication & Signal and Track Departments.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Sr. Management, project management, inventory management, tech. supervision, effective communication, administration. Planning/scheduling, budget/finance, field production methods, Track maintenance and construction methods, Track operations and procedures, spreadsheets.
• Effective writing, effective presentations, conducting meetings, conducting interviews, supervisory skills, advanced management and leadership, interpersonal communications, handling employee injuries, conducting investigations, PPE.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with all levels of employees both internal and external customers.

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
