SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

 

The Director Digital Technologies Sys Design & Dev - Payments serves as an expert in the management and engineering functions of the payment products and associated customer experiences. The role also requires strategic leadership and oversight of payment products across all the technology functions to support the business goals. This role provides expertise on designing and automating payment processes. The Director Digital Technologies Sys Design & Dev - Payments addresses the day to day issues and has the foresight to see where the industry is headed and proactively delivers secure solutions working with various stakeholder across technology and business.

The Director may oversee one or more technology Product and Service Offerings end to end which serve the need of internal or external customers of Amtrak. This role owns the responsibility of the Capex and OpEx budget associated with their products and ensures optimum utilization of investment against the priorities. The position is responsible to the customer for the initiation, elaboration, construction, transition and ongoing maintenance and support of a particular services and products. This role manages teams of employees and contractors and provides consistent and productive communication between team members, business partners and customers. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, implement, and manage the roadmap, payment product strategy, and execution of the entire payment flows / platform from user experience to vendor integrations, to the infrastructure.
  • Responsible for end-to-end program delivery and business stake holder management for payment related services and products. 
  • Manage and coordinate with the payment vendors, cross functional teams, and business partners to ensure timely and cost-effective sequencing and execution of critical path milestones across several inter-dependent initiatives.
  • Responsible to maintain the technology stack for the payment ecosystem.
  • Manages client engagements and service agreements on service and product offerings.
  • Responsible for payment services related compliance matters including financial regulations, data security standards, payment industry changes, and PCI DSS.
  • Responsible for the payment products SLA, driving new features, capabilities, performance, and overall continuous improvement of the payment products.
  • Drive critical areas of the business, like increased payment options, payment scale & reliability, and fraud mitigation.
  • Analytics focused to develop KPIs and dashboard reporting to monitor the payments systems performance.
  • Establish Program Governance and Controls structures to enable effective escalation and decision-making processes.
  • Cultivate collaborative partnership among stakeholders to enable scoping, financial and resource decisions.
  • Ensure that financial performance and forecasting information is available and reportable for senior executives and government regulators. 
  • Identify, document, and elevate cross-organizational and vendor-driven dependencies, and work with executives and peers across the organization to develop and implement appropriate dependency management processes.
  • Work with senior leaders to contribute relevant data to support annual planning activities and sequence new working through the appropriate control’s mechanisms.
  • Identify efficiencies and present recommended improvement opportunities at various levels of management.

 

 MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information System or related field with 13+ year’s relevant experience or equivalent work experience.
  • 12 to 15 years of relevant technical and business managerial experience. Proven experience in managing diverse teams of 10 to 15 employees and contractors.
  • 5+ years of Payment platform and products experience at the enterprise level
  • 5+ years of experience in IT software engineering for the consumer payments space.
  • 3+ years of experience in Agile product development environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in software technology environment and delivering complex initiatives.
  • Extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of the payment gateways, processors, and digital payments.
  • Solid understanding of financial transaction processing systems
  • A keen interest for the payment product design
  • Ability to balance multiple high priority initiatives simultaneously and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to think strategically on critical business needs, and to simultaneously act tactically to execute against them.
  • Strong experience with cross-functional collaboration during product development cycle
  • Works independently, leading through influence in a highly matrix-ed organization.
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
  • Requires leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and influencing executive level management and key stakeholders.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to launch and deliver multiple, concurrent IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well with others in an integrated team environment, and must be self-motivated

  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business Management or similar relevant field.
  • Experience working in large complex companies that heavily rely on real time 24x7 IT operations to successfully service external customers.

 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed in hybrid or remote.
  • May require travel up to 30% of the time. 
  • Requires on-call status

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

The salary/hourly range is $179,300-$232,416. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
