This position is responsible for the administrating and reconciling the cycle inventory program, reviewing and monitoring inventory levels for various programs and maintaining record integrity. Also responsible for the safe, effective/efficient utilization of all Materials Management resources including personnel, equipment, facility, automated and/or computerized systems/infrastructures.


  • Reviews and monitors inventory levels and makes appropriate adjustments.
  • Supervises the warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, issuing and distribution of all direct and indirect materials used in the repair and support of the of the Maintenance of Way operations for Amtrak.
  • Implements and facilitates Corporate Policy/Procedures relative to all aspects of the material function, including scheduling, shipping, receiving, distribution, expediting, managing the warehouse and all warranty programs relative to Amtrak.
  • Interfaces with customers, vendors, department employees and other related parties.
  • Assists the Manager in training of SAP, Safety, CFR-49.
  • Submits invoices and orders expense material in Ariba-AOD system. 





  • Proven experience utilizing SAP, Ariba-AOD, or equivalent systems
  • Proven experience in materials management, warehouse inventory control and planning distribution environment. Proven experience in Inventory Control Sciences. Demonstrated experience and understanding of cycle counts and methods to maintain and improve location and inventory validity and accuracy
  • Proven working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc
  • Experience demonstrating knowledge to replenish inventories and minimizes out of stock items needed by engineering customers or for programs to maintain the highest service level attainable in support of Maintenance of Way
  • Satisfactory prior job performance
  • Strong working knowledge of corporate policies and procedures including safety, materials management and DOT (CFR49 requirements)
  • Experience demonstrating ability to supervise agreement employees in accordance with the collective bargaining agreements to ensure compliance with the applicable labor contract
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must become RWP and AMTII Qualified
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, problem solving, and presentation skills to guide and support members of the assigned unit in achieving goals consistent with departmental and corporate programs.



  • Extensive demonstrated experience in materials management, including purchasing, planning, replenishment, forecasting, logistics, distribution, MRP and scheduling.
  • Strong SAP experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of continuous improvement within a matrix organization.
  • Knowledge of and experience in strategic sourcing strategies.
  • Supervisory experience demonstrated within the Engineering Departments
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred



Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.


The hourly rate is $29.96 to $39.95 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
