SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position will have the responsibility for the oversight of day-to-day operations, management and planning to ensure the safe and efficient makeup and operation of trains within the Metrolink system, including providing the leadership, guidance, direction, planning, implementation, and coordination of functions associated with the road operations, such as yard operations, train makeup, on time performance and customer service initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide reliable, safe, comfortable and on time service to customers, in support of revenue and expense goals. 
• Ensure crews, train makeup, road operations and coordination of equipment movements are performed in a safe, efficient and on time manner. 
• Interface and coordinate all operational activities with dispatching, mechanical and engineering partners in support of goals.
• Develop, coordinate, and implement safety programs, budgets and operating practices associated with the train movement within the Metrolink property.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation or Business or combination of equivalent training and work experience.
• 10-20 years transportation experience.
• Significant operating experience, with no violations described in CFR 49, parts 240, 242 and 250.117, as Train Service Engineer and/or as a Road Foreman.
• Understanding and knowledge of various computer systems and programs. Such as Microsoft Office Suite, CICSPROD, and SPARTN.  Extensive managerial oversight experience of train and yard movements.  Must have prior satisfactory job performance.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree in Transportation or related discipline or equivalent work experience. 
• Significant experience within the Metrolink operation and with operating agreements. GCOR (General Code of Operating Rules) qualification. 
• Current Class I Engineer certification. 

• Current Class I Conductor certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of CFR 49 requirements and labor contracts.


COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Strong leadership, organization, planning, and communication skills as demonstrated through previous assignments.

 

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The salary range is $138,000  Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary.
