SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position is responsible for providing our passengers with superior customer service from behind the ticket counter or on the station floor or platform.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must perform general housekeeping to ensure clean, orderly work area
- This position will also co-ordinate car and locomotive assignments between CNOC Car and Locomotive Desks, Boston Chief and Motor Storage foreman all jointly responsible with the mechanical foreman for movements in and out of Parcel G. Responsible for recording departure times and reason for delay (if any) into ARROW System
- Required to maintain Mechanical Department book-off log and delay reports, coordinate hostler and yard crews for locomotive movements in New Haven Locomotive Servicing Facility
- Requires working contact with Metro North District G RTC and performing locomotive radio checks. Must prepare 15-day locomotive inspection sheets. Inspection sheets must also be filed and retained
- Coordinate rescue efforts for disabled trains. Will receive reports of enroute train failures and notify Mechanical Department foreman, coordinate power change for engine failures and bad order equipment. Any similar duties as assigned or required,
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED.
Able to work under pressure; learn policy and procedures quickly; be able to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to learn computer-based skills.
Must be skilled in the processing of all types of Amtrak tickets and must have a thorough understanding of tariffs
to properly price tickets.
Make ticket reports promptly, properly safeguard company funds properly and prepare related reports.
Must be qualified with the operation of Arrow, Railres/Stars and Quik-Trak.
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to maintain a positive, good-natured attitude is
essential
The hourly rate is $29.29-39.05 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
