Responsible for the installation or repairs to plumbing or piping and associated valves, fittings and equipment on wastewater, fire lines, standpipes, sprinkler lines, chilled/condenser water lines, compressed air, high/low pressure steam, water lines, hot water heaters, domestic water, tunnel pipes, sewer ejectors, and piping and associated fixtures/devices in lavatories. The successful candidate must also be able to troubleshoot mechanical systems and shop equipment, including a wheel truing machine, drop tables, sanding equipment, fuel equipment, air compressors, heating units, storage tanks, and train wash equipment.


• Maintains skill levels with hand and electrical tools, air jacks, impact wrenches and specialty tools for specific application
• Works within the guidelines of Amtrak’s System Safety Program
• Other duties as assigned


•  Must possess a valid driver’s license
•  Experience as a pipefitter or plumber
•  Ability to pass required training with written exams, including two weeks of safety training
•  Ability to read instructions, plans and blueprints

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
