Summary:

As a member of the Engineering team, the Intern will contribute to exciting efforts to maintain and improve Amtrak’s infrastructure. We are looking for an individual who possess high energy and thrives in a fast-paced work environment.

The Intern will have exposure to all areas of Engineering including inspection, design, developing means & methods, scheduling, estimating, and construction.  The Intern will leverage team expertise, industry best practices and academic background to engage in work activities, such as,

  • Participate in bridge inspections
  • Developing estimate for construction projects
  • Developing schedules for maintenance and capital improvement projects
  • Performing inventory of material and tools
  • Working with engineering team to develop means and methods for projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited college/university in Civil Engineering or similar degree
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, AutoCAD

 

Minimum KSA’s

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in a construction environment adhering to job site safety requirements.
  • Ability to work independently on specific projects
  • Some experience in AutoCAD
