JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Quality Process Engineer through quality management and process techniques, leads and implements the practice of controlling exactly how a mechanical process delivers maintenance aligned with customer requirements. This position will lead continuous improvement initiatives ensuring a high level of quality that meets mechanical expectation regarding established KPI’s. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Proactive review and improvement of systems and processes to ensure satisfaction of predetermined quality standards 
  • Leads and manages the quality model, implementation of production process improvements and oversees the enhancement of system performance
  • Responsible for meeting with production teams to implement recommendations on efficiencies and quality enhancements
  • Leads Solution Focus Team meetings and agendas to help make necessary improvements, review trend analyses, and changes to the process related issues in the production environment
  • Designs and implements quality and safety requirements are followed and met at all points of the production process, 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Demonstrated experience and documented success in achieving productivity and/or quality improvements in a railroad environment through quality and process engineering techniques
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in the railroad industry with Process or Quality Engineering (minimum of 10 years relevant work experience in lieu of degree).

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Creative problem-solving skills and strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/processes effectively to timely conclusions
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Access and Project software
  • Strong knowledge of FRA, OSHA, Environmental compliance areas specifically related to railroad industry. 
  • Ability to learn new tasks (both complex and routine) in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities
  • Strong knowledge of Amtrak equipment nomenclature to include transportation industry style vehicles
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Flexibility to work extended hours if required

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, OR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience with Process Management implementation and Control
  • Working knowledge and experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance and Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Demonstrated experience/working knowledge of various data management business systems including SAP, Ariba and WMS
  • Extensive experience in railroad industry and extensive knowledge of various fleet and equipment nomenclature to include transportation industry style vehicles
  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Occasionally works in a shop environment requiring bending, stooping and crouching movements for observational purposes
  • Personal interaction with various business groups from Senior Management level through ground floor operatives
  • Travel 15%
