POSITION SUMMARY:
The intern will be dedicated to the Pipe & Wire Business Line under the supervision of the Senior Real Estate Development Manager responsible for Pipe & Wire Occupancies.   The Pipe & Wire Business Line reviews project proposals from third parties for compliance with Amtrak’s specification and then negotiates, drafts, manages and enforces revenue generating agreements that enable third parties, primarily utilities to install, operate and maintain their facilities on Amtrak’s ROW.  Third parties are typically in the gas, water, sewer, fiber optic cable, or electric transmission industry.  The intern will review new project proposals for completeness and process for internal review requiring coordination with several departments at Amtrak including Engineering, Environmental, Transportation, and others.  This department maximizes the value of Amtrak’s real estate while minimizing potential risk to the company.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Research, process, and provide Amtrak valuation maps to third parties to assist them in preparing a complete application for occupancy.
  • Conducts real estate related research through assistance from others in the department or personally.
  • Processes, manages, and enforces procedures regarding compliance with Amtrak standards.
  • Assist in performing reviews and other analyses of project proposals for completeness and approvability.
  • Provides reporting and statistical analysis to assist with daily operations.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. 
  • Must be actively pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Legal Studies, Industrial Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum. 
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher

  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • High attention to detail and organizational aptitude
