Job Summary

The position is with signal production from Washington to New York. Oversee all aspects of managing railroad production units, including manpower, scheduling, equipment, and supplies, ensuring safe work practices. Oversee operations, ensure resource efficiency, and provide technical expertise. Primarily support work in assigned location(s), while also supporting production work across the Division. 

Essential Functions

  • Drive safety improvement through effective communication and oversight, including coaching.
  • Direct and implement infrastructure maintenance projects and set production goals.
  • Ensure work meets or exceeds Amtrak standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support development of efficient work methods and procedures to enhance safety and reliability.
  • Monitor production reports and oversee administrative activities of the production unit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Qualified or the ability to obtain, AMT/C&S 23/27, AMT34, RWP, NORAC, AMT2

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 9 years of relevant work experience.
    • 4+ years of relevant railroad operation management/supervisor experience (i.e., ARASA Supervisory experience or higher).

      • Educational requirements may be satisfied through an equivalent combination of education and experience; candidates with a bachelor’s degree require 4 years of professional supervisory experience; candidates with an associate’s degree require 6 years of professional supervisory experience; candidates without a degree require 8 years of professional supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and customers at all levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office for various job functions.
  • Expertise in C&S Design Inspection, Maintenance, and Construction.
  • Knowledge of railroad operations, rules, and production work procedures.
  • Familiarity with Federal Railroad Regulations, including Roadway Worker Protection and Track Safety Standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery.
  • Strong time management skills and delegation abilities.
  • Understanding and application of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience in delivering presentations both internally and externally.

The salary/hourly range is $124,600.00 – $161,352.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
