Marketing Statement

This position is a tiered position. Incumbents will have a position level assigned based on their skills and experience, and in alignment with position development plans.

Position placement is at Amtrak’s sole and absolute discretion. 

Job Summary

Manage Amtrak’s employee lodging and ground transportation program supporting nearly 20,000 employees by coordinating hotel and transportation bookings, serving as the primary liaison with the lodging vendor, and sourcing new hotel and ground transportation providers. Ensure compliance with Amtrak occupancy and usage rules while balancing union requirements and employee needs with strong financial stewardship. Resolve service issues and complaints from both employees and hotel partners and reconcile vendor invoices by validating charges and providing accurate accounting information to enable timely payment.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate hotel lodging and ground transportation bookings for Amtrak employees, ensuring accurate reservations, changes, and cancellations to support operational needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Amtrak and the lodging vendor to communicate requirements, resolve escalations, and improve service delivery and performance.
  • Source and evaluate new hotels and ground transportation providers, gathering availability, rates, and service capabilities; provide recommendations to support network coverage and cost objectives.
  • Apply Amtrak policies, occupancy requirements, and applicable union rules when arranging lodging/transportation, balancing employee needs with Amtrak’s commitment to excellent financial stewardship.
  • Manage and resolve complaints and service issues from employees and hotel partners, documenting trends and coordinating corrective actions with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Reconcile vendor invoices by validating charges, researching discrepancies, and providing accurate accounting/cost center information to enable timely payment.
  • Monitor compliance and utilization (including occupancy and rule adherence), maintain required documentation, and report exceptions and performance insights to management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Relevant work experience in transportation or hospitality logistics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 2 year of relevant work experience in transportation or hospitality logistics.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively serve as a liaison between multiple groups—such as frontline employees, hotel partners, vendors, union representatives, and internal stakeholders. This involves clearly conveying information, listening to concerns, and diplomatically balancing differing interests to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities help navigate challenging situations, resolve conflicts, and foster positive relationships while ensuring that Amtrak’s policies and standards are upheld.

The salary/hourly range for Ops Business Analyst is $65,500.00 – $84,888.00. The salary range for Sr/Ops Business Analyst is $78,600 - $101,844. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
