SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position will work closely with the Amtrak real estate development team to provide support for real estate operations and management.
The internship position is intended to provide a unique perspective of the railroad real estate business, earned by working alongside talented professionals. The successful candidate will work directly with real estate development managers to advance projects including document review and abstracting, data collection and reporting, file audits, and digitization. The position responsibilities will include information gathering, updating real estate asset databases, and providing assistance to the business managers in the execution of daily tasks and support of internal and external customers for real estate development projects. Areas of learning will include becoming familiar with varying types of real estate transactions and their associated documents, researching and analyzing real estate comparables to determine price points, contract and property management (including expense management), and cross-functionality in a diverse organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Active listening, team-building, reading comprehension, writing, critical thinking, and balanced judgment are important to this position.
- The candidate should be prepared to learn internal systems and technology, including real estate asset management and storage and payment systems.
- Ability to attend meetings and interface with internal clients and support partners (including engineering, law, operations, claims, risk management, environmental, and finance).
- Ability to work in Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
- Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in business administration, real estate, finance, law, operations, planning and development, or similar degree.
- Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
Summer 2025 internship program will run from May 19th - August 8, 2025.
