SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Sr. Supply Chain Planner works within the supply chain to ensure inventoried supply meets customer demand by maintaining optimal plant inventory levels, develop and implement contingency plans, and analyzing and resolving critical supply chain process and supply gaps. The role strategically works with production, procurement, upstream suppliers to support reducing costs and realizing optimal inventory levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Establishes system forecasting and inventory settings for assigned parts and material to ensure availability and efficient use of resources.
• As necessary, reviews, approves, and adjusts system recommended replenishment procurements.
• Manages inventory across the Amtrak maintenance network to optimize distribution plans and identify operational improvements.
• Evaluates and resolves excess and insufficient inventory situations.
• Works closely with the buyers and customers to effectively plan inventory requirements, update and approve bills of material, and improve efficiency.
• Works closely with the buyers to select best method to procure needed material and manage vendor performance.
• Manages the return, repair, and re-stocking of components including those repaired by vendors and warranty returns to vendors.
• Leverages best practices and makes decisions based on the best interests of the internal customers.
• Implements supply chain processes that reduce total cost of ownership.
• Responsible for forecast, reorder point planning, and MRP analysis to evaluate and develop best case inventory strategies through proper inventory planning actions to achieve desired results.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a Supply Chain, Business, or related field required OR equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience in purchase or materials planning or related fields may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 7+ years of relevant experience preferred without a degree
• 3+ years of relevant experience required with a degree
• Proven experience in supply chain management/inventory planning and analysis using safety stock and min/max planning concepts.
• Expert in Microsoft Excel
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, and Project
• Prior satisfactory job performance
• Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, problem solving, and presentation skills to guide and support members of the assigned unit in achieving goals consistent with departmental and corporate programs.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills necessary to analyze issues, identify trends, analyze results and make recommendations.
• Experience in a matrix environment and experience promoting a safe workplace.
• Ability to multi-task and handle day-to-day management of a variety of inventory planning related activities. Adopts hands-on approaches as necessary.
• Proven ability to create and maintain a positive working relationship with peers, team members, and stakeholders.
• Proven knowledge of procurement, inventory management business applications and processes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree in a Supply Chain, Business, or related field required OR equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience in purchase or materials planning or related fields may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of relevant experience required with a degree
• Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or other related supply chain certifications.
• Demonstrated potential to fill a supervisory role.
• Strong experience in data analytics, interpreting data, and executing process improvements based on data
• Expert knowledge of supply chain, inventory management, commodity management, and supplier management.
• Experience with SAP ECC, SAP HANA, or SAP IBP
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary/hourly range is $81,830- $106,050. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
