SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Senior Billing Specialist is responsible for all activities related to all Billing, as well as AR Reporting and Systems for the Corporation. This will include accounting, reporting, billing and reconciling all related revenue and accounts receivable as well as the implementation and development of accounting controls and procedures. The incumbent will be heavily engaged in the monthly and year end closings and timely invoicing to the current AR systems. Interface with internal and external auditors and customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for all activity related to Revenue billings and receivable functions that include recording revenues, assets, and liabilities.
- Assist in development of annual budget for revenues for reimbursable, capital, and joint capital projects as well as direct and commuter billing and other non- transportation items.
- Reporting of accounts receivable transactions and monitoring the unbilled and collections.
- Assist in the development of relevant department Policies and Procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting, finance, or other business experience.
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration and knowledge of contemporary business concepts or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience reflecting progressive responsibility in the area of accounting, customer billing, collections, financial analysis, and general financial applications.
- Demonstrated skill analyzing, interpreting, and reporting quantitative data for business use and action.
- Adherence to relevant policies and procedures governing these activities.
- Knowledge of reimbursable contracts governing the revenue generation activities.
- Knowledge of project systems and cost accounting principles sufficient to plan and control billing activity.
- Frequently learns new tasks, both complex and simple, in order to maintain effectiveness in position.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong oral and written communication skills with proven ability to effectively interface with individuals at various levels within and outside the organization sufficient to exchange information, work cooperatively, facilitate understanding, and persuade and influence others.
- Demonstrated skill effectively communicating financial concepts to financial and non-financial customers, including the delivery of formal presentations.
- Demonstrated skill in leading, managing, and motivating team members with differing levels of expertise.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Access.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 to 3 years of relevant accounting, finance, or other business experience .
- Transportation industry experience.
- Knowledge/skill in the utilization of Microsoft Excel and SAP.
WORK ENVRIORNMENT:
- Works in a deadline driven environment with frequently changing priorities.
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary/hourly range is $28.32-$36.76. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary.
