Sr. Financial Analyst – Capital Controls
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Senior Financial Analyst will assist with overseeing and management of capital reporting. The person will be responsible, along with a manager for the collecting, developing, and monitoring of Major Capital Program/Plan to actual and forecasted expense. This includes, but not limited to, assisting with monthly FRA reporting. The Senior Financial Analyst will assist other members of the group as a point of contact across all Amtrak and external federal government on Major Capital related reporting. The position will work with the Financial Planning team and other Amtrak groups to help collect, create, report, revise, and present major capital program/plan. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for cultivating and maintaining favorable relationships in support of Amtrak operations and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collect and generate key financial metrics from multiple data sources.
- Assists Directors and Managers analysis financial data from selected sources,
identify problems and appropriate courses of action. ▪ Develops, implements and maintains external and internal cost reports, cash flows
and forecasts. - Collect, report, and review the collection of company-wide Major Capital
Program/Plan. - Participate in projects including teams involved in cross functional assignments and
impact Capital Planning. - Foster and maintain favorable and productive relationships with internal and
external partners, customers, and agencies. - Perform ad hoc analysis as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years demonstrated professional experience in financial analysis/quantitative
functions. - Experience effectively communicating financial concepts to financial and nonfinancial
audiences. - Strong, demonstrated skill and experience in spreadsheet data modeling and high.
proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access. - Strong aptitude and proficiency in compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting
large amounts of quantitative data for business use and action. - Experience with corporate financial systems such as SAP, Peoplesoft, or Oracle.
- Ability to function independently and with minimum supervision and deliver sound
and timely analysis. - Superior customer service skills.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or business related
field, or an equivalent combination of education, work experience and
training. - CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
- Experience with SAP and Business Objects report writing tools.
- Transportation, Construction, Infrastructure or Project Controls experience.
- Experience with Amtrak financial systems.

a variety of tasks. - Work is conducted Onsite in Philadelphia, PA, Washington, D.C., Wilmington, DE or New York CIty
- Constantly or frequently sits, stands, or walks; may lift, carry, push, or pull objects of
various weights; may reach, kneel, crouch, bend, or twist in order to in order to
perform administrative tasks (e.g., filing, retrieving materials from desks and
bookcases, moving around an office setting).
Mental Demands:
- Constantly communicates, comprehends, and responds to verbal statements and
instructions both orally and in writing.
- Frequently resolves problems with conflicting priorities in cognitively demanding
situations. - Frequently reads and analyzes hard copy and or computer screen material and
writes reports as appropriate. - Conducts in person and/or telephone dialogues as appropriate in order to manage
and conduct the flow of work.
Working Conditions:
- Occasionally works long hours and may be required to be on-call and available on
an emergency basis. - Constantly works in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment with frequently
changing priorities. - Frequently handles multiple projects simultaneously.
- Occasional travel to major stations.
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary/hourly range is $78,830-$101,844. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
