Assist system track department in maintenance and compliance.  Tasks include both office and field work.  Keep logs of inspections for rail defects, prepare reports summarizing track inspection compliance, create and update roadway maintenance schedules (Sperry, Rail Grinding, tree cutting, weed spray, geometry car inspections).  Perform field audits, assist surveyors and designers, collect asset information, and other duties as assigned.  



  • Create and update compliance reports for Track 
  • Perform field audits to verify compliance with policies and procedures (MW 1000, FRA safety standards) 
  • Assist Engineers in daily functions throughout System Track Department 




  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.  
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field 
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.  
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher 




  • Background in construction 
  • Computer skills (All Microsoft suite products, CADD, and design programs) 
  • Effective communication skills 



Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
