Guaranteed Extra Board (GEB) members are expected to possess sufficient knowledge to safely, effectively and efficiently perform required duties at BRW and POR. At POR, GEB members will assume the duties of CSR and Lead Agent. These duties include LEAD duties.


Customer Service Representatives are responsible for providing our passengers with exceptional professional customer service by welcoming, informing, and attending to the general needs of our passengers. This position is highly visible and works in a proactive manner to deliver our passenger a positive travel experience by offering information and assistance available without always being approached first. The ability to maintain a positive, good natured attitude at all times is essential. The incumbent must be comfortable professionally interacting with passengers, speaking on a public address system, using Amtrak computer systems and continually develop a working knowledge of Amtrak policies and procedures. This position requires excellent communication skills, safe workplace habits and the ability to work as a member of a team.


This position will be posted at duty locations within Brunswick and Portland, station/reporting locations during the time frames indicated on the bulletins relevant to those positions being covered.



  • Incumbent must be skilled in processing of all types of Amtrak tickets and must have a thorough understanding of tariffs to properly price tickets. Make ticket and related reports daily and properly safeguard company funds.
  • Incumbent must be qualified with the operation of ARROW, RAILRES/STARS, Quik-Trak, SAM/SAP and ASAP Revenue Accounting Systems.
  • Responsible for the proper care and preventative maintenance of ticket printers and Quik-Trak machines.
  • Provide guidance on all aspects of passenger service to on-duty staff, to accomplish service delivery goals and be an advocate for our passengers while traveling with us.
  • Responsible for ensuring that routine custodial duties are executed daily
  • Verify cash sales taken for on-board sales and ensuring that remittances are properly completed and in compliance with Revenue Accounting Procedures.
  • Representatives must comply with the company’s uniform and grooming policy to present a positive image on behalf of Amtrak through manners, actions and personal style.
