SUMMMARY OF DUTIES:
Makes repairs to any part of the drainage system, steam and hot water, heating, cast iron water lines, high pressure steam lines, hydraulic elevator lines, sprinkler systems, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
• Determine reasons for component or product failure by tracing the problem through standardized procedures
• Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe support, hoses, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating and sprinkling systems
• Shape and modify metal material to enable assembly of components
• Install and maintain refrigeration, air conditioning systems and steam and gas heating in shops, rail yards, and offices, including compressors, pumps, meters, hydraulic controls and piping
• Repair and maintain other systems including, but not limited to snow melters, smoke pipe testing, compressed air, sand towers, roof, septic & sewer, fueling, washing, pumping, environmental and gas systems
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Valid driver’s license is required at time of hire
• Read shop drawings, plumbing blue prints, plans and schematics
• One or more years of welding experience
• Must be able to lift 50lb or more
• One or more years of plumbing experience
• Plumbing License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must possess necessary skills to perform work associated with plumbing trade.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The hourly rate is $28.88 - $38.51 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
