 The Sr Accessibility Program Specialist will support the Senior Manager, Accessibility in leading initiatives and advancing Amtrak’s accessibility program to ensure access and inclusion for people with disabilities in Amtrak’s services, programs, and policies. The incumbent will be a key member in coordinating and tracking Accessibility Office planning efforts, goals, and reporting to help ensure the organization’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as help identify and implement best practices throughout the organization and in collaboration with other departments and programs (Training, Communications, Stations, eCommerce, and Onboard Services). The Accessibility Program Coordinator will be a team player, a self-starter, and proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and streamlining processes and providing recommendations and program support. 


• Coordinates, tracks and monitors Accessibility Office (AO) planning and public programming efforts and goals ensuring access and inclusion for people with disabilities.
• Uses subject matter expertise to proactively provide feedback to continue building the accessibility program and advancing Amtrak services and initiatives to best serve people with disabilities.
• Develops materials and provides technical guidance and best practices that support accessibility communications and planning throughout the organization, in collaboration with other departments.
• Identifies opportunities for accessibility program improvements and streamlining processes, reviewing and modifying policies, and researching and recommending solutions. 
• Partners with other departments (Stations, Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS), Mechanical, eCommerce, Customer Relations, etc.) to report on accessibility programming and status updates. 
• Ensures presentations and documents are electronically accessible and compatible for screen readers. 
• Presents accessibility program material to various internal and external stakeholders, at all levels of the organization.
• Documents and maintains meeting minutes from accessibility program report outs to Amtrak Executive Leadership and disability organizations.
• Performs outreach to community stakeholders with a focus on building and maintaining strong relationships in the disability community. 
• Maintains Accessibility Office event calendar based on disability outreach and network events.


• A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Experience developing materials, communications, and resources with the needs of users with disabilities in mind and in collaboration with other teams.
• Strong advocacy skills, including, but not limited to experience working with and on behalf of people with disabilities to ensure access and inclusion.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
• Be a team player and work effectively and diplomatically across departments with varying objectives and priorities.
• Proven ability for supporting and managing projects and deliverables to meet schedule and scope of work; problem-solving and communicating any modifications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
• Demonstrate a foundation for web and electronic accessibility of websites, mobile technology, and electronic documents.
• Demonstrated commitment to accessibility and disability inclusion.
• Extensive knowledge and application of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and guidelines pertaining to electronic accessibility of documents.
• Experience developing materials, communications, and resources with the needs of users with disabilities in mind and in collaboration with other teams.
• Excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
• Demonstrated experience simultaneously managing multiple projects and/or programs. 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).


• 5+ years of experience delivering cross-functional projects (tech and non-tech-related).
• Extensive experience in the accessibility and disability fields.
• Transportation industry experience is a plus.
• Graduate degree and/or education and training in related field.


Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
