The Business Information Security Officer (BISO) is responsible for providing strategic technical leadership across Amtrak verticals to ensure cybersecurity investments are in alignment with business strategy.  As a technology leader, this role will maximize return on cybersecurity investment, and ensure a balanced capabilities portfolio, while minimizing operational costs. The BISO will act as a liaison between departmental functions and the Cyber Security organization to ensure alignment across strategy, goals, technical direction, prioritization of cybersecurity efforts, resources and delivering results on our cybersecurity programs.


• Partner with executive and service level leaders to understand unfolding and persistent business challenges.
• Partner with business leaders to develop actionable strategies, plans, roadmaps and rationalize cybersecurity portfolio to best support   business needs. 
• Lead the definition of the system, technical, application and deployment of cybersecurity architectures and programs across the   Information Security domain and recommends courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness for multiple programs,   products, platforms, and services.
• Drives alignment to the Amtrak IT and Cybersecurity Strategies and ensures that the engagement model evolves with changing business needs   and technology advancement.
• Works with IT leadership, Information Security, and all IT Service Owners to determine the best cybersecurity approach to secure and   support innovative solutions.
• Works with IT leadership, Information Security, and all IT Service Owners to generate appropriate communication, process, and education   plans to ensure both IT and Business leaders are aware of the overall cybersecurity posture within Amtrak.
• Partners with business clients and IT Service Owners to create an integrated cybersecurity technology roadmap across different business   functions.
• Building and delivering Cyber Defense programs and strategy.




• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information System, Software Engineering, or related field with 11+ year’s relevant experience or   15+ years of relevant work experience in Cybersecurity and Technology Strategy.
• Cybersecurity program development, Program management, Financial management and Technology product delivery experience is required.
• 11+ years of relevant technical and business managerial experience.
• CISSP or equivalent professional certifications 
• Requires experience working with executive and service leadership to educate and gain concurrence for the technology architecture   standards, roadmaps, and plans.
• Requires demonstrated ability to launch and deliver multiple major architecture initiatives making effective use of staff.
• Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well with others in an integrated team environment, and must be self-  motivated.
• Ability to switch between strategic and tactical concepts and be comfortable in both settings



• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management or similar relevant field
• Experience working in large complex companies that heavily rely on real time 24x7 IT operations to successfully service external customers.
• Experience in the transportation industry, rail familiarity preferred.
