SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The intern will be dedicated to the Marketing and Sales Department under the supervision of the Director Branding and Promotion.  The intern will support the research, development and implementation of marketing initiatives and advertising campaigns to increase ridership on Amtrak’s National network of services including the Northeast, other State Supported Corridor trains as well as for Amtrak’s fifteen overnight leisure brand trains. In this role, the intern will interact with Amtrak personnel within and outside of the Marketing Department and occasionally with external vendors, partners and advertising agencies. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
•    With an emphasis on digital, social and other “new media” tactics, the intern will Identify trends and best practices and assist with the development of strategies for advertising and promotion campaigns targeting both broad and niche consumer segments.  
•    The intern will also coordinate the integration of communication across various marketing departments/functional areas to support flash sales and other promotional offers. 
•    Relative to brand management, the intern will also assist in the ongoing management of Amtrak’s visual and verbal identity and provide support for branding goals and initiatives; including content development, brand integration, partnerships and other experiential initiatives and activations. 

 

This position begins in May 2021

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICIATIONS 
•    Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing and/or Communications 
•    Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.  
•     Must have 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or  sophomore status at minimum.  
•     Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher 
•    Available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week between the days/hours: Monday-Friday, 8a-5:30p 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

•    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
•    Self-motivated and able to work independently 
•    High attention to detail and organizational aptitude 
•    Prior experience in Marketing and Communications  and/or Knowledge of marketing, brand and content management and advertising principles
