SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Senior Program Manager – Payments is responsible for delivery of the payments and ecommerce projects. This position is for the IT software engineering organization within Amtrak, mainly focused on the customer payments solutions. The programs may encompass sub-programs, multiple projects and work-streams, cross-departmental interfaces, multiple technologies, geographies, and assets.   The role requires regular analytical and metrics-based reporting to other staff, Executive Committee, and stakeholders.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Manage and coordinate with the payment vendors, cross functional teams, and business partners to ensure timely and cost-effective sequencing and execution   of critical path milestones across several inter-dependent projects within assigned program and overall portfolio.
• Responsible for driving new features, capabilities, performance, and overall continuous improvement of the payment products. 
• Develops and manages the product roadmap with engineers and business teams.
• Analytics focused to develop KPIs and dashboard reporting to monitor the payments systems performance
• Establish Program Governance and Controls structures to enable effective escalation and decision-making processes.
• Cultivate collaborative partnership among stakeholders to enable scoping, financial and resource decisions 
• Identify, document, and elevate cross-organizational and vendor-driven dependencies, and work with executives and peers across the organization to develop   and implement appropriate dependency management processes
• Identify and manage assessment of major changes to scope, schedule and budget through the appropriate Program and Enterprise governance approval mechanisms
• Work with senior leaders to contribute relevant data to support annual planning activities and sequence new working through the appropriate control’s   mechanisms
• Ensure that program financial performance and forecasting information is available and reportable for senior executives and government regulators  
• Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program execution and work across organization to establish and monito mitigation plans
• Develop and maintain required program management artifacts and ensure that all projects have appropriate project management artifacts and processes in   accordance with Amtrak Project Management standards and applicable regulations
• Identify efficiencies and present recommended improvement opportunities at various levels of management.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 9+ years of relevant work experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in IT software engineering space for the consumer payments space. 
• 3+ years of experience in Agile product development environment.
• 3+ years of experience in software technology environment and delivering complex projects.
• Knowledge and understanding of the payment gateways, processors, and digital payments
• Ability to balance multiple high priority initiatives simultaneously
• Solid understanding of financial transaction processing systems
• Lead by example, with ability to get into details of all product management job functions, including product discoveries, use case creation, and   requirements definition
• Strong experience with cross-functional collaboration during product development cycle
• Ability to think strategically on critical business needs, and to simultaneously act tactically to execute against them
• Works independently, leading through influence in a highly matrix-ed organization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduate degree
• PgMP Certification
• Experience managing programs in the transportation industry environment
