Job Summary

As a Digital Product Owner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of components within a single set of digital products, capabilities, and services across Amtrak. You will be a member of a cross-functional team and serve as the supporting voice of the customer, developing a foundational understanding of business and process knowledge to guide development teams in building software products with the highest business and customer impact. 

You will support product management and other stakeholders in prioritizing and managing a digital product backlog, incorporating feedback from business stakeholders and the team to guide continuous product improvement for a single team or product.

 

Role is based in Washington, DC. Requests for Remote work will be reviewed but not guaranteed.

Essential Functions

• Act as the supporting voice of the customer and point of contact for the product, managing the product backlog, ensuring that it reflects business priorities and drives value.
• Contribute to a clear product vision, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
• Assist product management and stakeholders in translating business needs into well-defined features, user stories, and acceptance criteria, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
• Support the prioritization of features and user stories with input from product management and engineering teams, based on business value, customer feedback, and technical feasibility, ensuring the team works on high-priority items.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, customers, and development teams, to ensure everyone is aligned with the product vision.
• Understand the product roadmap and align the team’s work with the strategic direction, key features, and timelines for product development.
• Support the definition and tracking of key metrics and outcomes to measure the success of the product and identify areas for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Jira Software, Confluence, FigJam, Jira Align, and similar tools.
• Experience of contributing to product definition and development within a product team.

• 2+ years of relevant experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated foundational understanding of agile methodologies, with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience preferred.
• Ability to learn quickly, take direction, and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication, relationship building, and facilitation skills
• Interest in developing the ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical delivery, and in building a career in digital product.

The salary/hourly range is $65,000 – $84,888. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
