Duties: Responsible for infrastructure support for various applications on AWS and Azure cloud platforms. Perform cloud infrastructure implementation, optimization, monitoring, administration, oversight and incremental enhancement of Amtrak’s platform and applications. Implement best practices, security recommendations, right-sizing resources to save cost using cost management tools such as Cost Explorer and CloudHealth, performance tuning, tagging, vulnerability mitigation, OS patching, OS hardening. Responds to change and trouble tickets, monitoring the platform for failures, exceptions, and threshold issues, tuning, and optimizing applications performance, testing applications for product upgrades and patches, communicating with customers and upper management about platform and/or ticket status.

Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field, followed by five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in job offered or five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in a related occupation. Experience must include: 1) Patching using AWS Systems Manager; 2) End to end coordination on all the Production/Patch Releases; 3) AWS Trusted Advisor; 4) AWS offerings: EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, SQS, SNS, AMI, ALB, AWS Backup, IAM, CloudTrail, CloudWatch; 5) Windows & Linux Administration; 6) Automation, such as Chef commands, Ruby, JSON, Bash Shell scripting, Windows PowerShell, Python scripting, Chef; 7) SSL Certificates; 8) Analysis of CPU/Memory/Disk usage on the Servers for the purposes of troubleshooting and right-sizing efforts; 9) Maintaining Server logs regularly. Server restart activities Trouble shooting software or hardware problem in servers; 10) Technologies: AWS, Jenkins, and Linux; 11) Configuring and administering multiple Linux and Red Hat servers. Up to 75% telecommute from home. All positions require pre-employment background verification, medical review and pre-employment drug screen and proof of full vaccination against Covid-19.
