Job Summary
The Lead Analyst is a key member of the Financial Planning & Analysis team tasked with providing financial reporting activities for assigned areas of IMCS. Key duties include budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, financial modeling, business partnering, financial reporting and creating executive level presentations to assist the company in meeting financial and business goals in the most cost-efficient manner.
Essential Functions
Financial Planning
- Support the development of annual operating plans, monthly forecasts, and long-range (5-year) financial plans for operating expenses, capital expenditures, and headcount, while identifying risks and opportunities to achieving financial goals.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare regular and ad hoc financial reports, communicate performance trends using variance analysis, and provide insights on implications and recommended actions.
- Maintain key financial metrics to monitor performance.
Financial Analysis
- Design and leverage financial models to improve forecasting accuracy, support decision-making, and drive efficiencies.
- Analyze monthly departmental results to ensure expenditure controls and report on variances.
Business Partnering
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, serving as subject matter expert and primary point of contact for designated financial areas.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
- Plus 6 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
- Plus 8 years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Significant experience or training in financial analysis
- Understanding of financial system operations, including strengths and weaknesses of system data used for operational analysis
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize the wide variety of functional costs impacted by operational changes
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, notably the ability to work with management and union personnel and across teams with widely diverse educational, cultural and employment backgrounds for the collection of information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong skills using PC-based spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel, Access); Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, sufficient to prepare effective analyses and presentations
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively within a cross-functional teamwork environment
The salary/hourly range is $94,300.00 – $122,256.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
