SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The position serves as the Marketing liaison to select State partners. Responsible for day-to-day collaboration with marketing representatives for the state-supported routes in the Midwest (MW) including Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri, and additional MW states as a result of any routes/services expansion. The Specialist will garner a thorough understanding of the State partner routes and general awareness of the territory. He/She will collaborate with state partners, advertising agencies and internal stakeholders to implement route level marketing and advertising campaigns and other promotional initiatives. The Specialist will also manage and or coordinate marketing/advertising projects as needed to promote ridership on the specified state supported routes. Specific responsibilities of the role include developing marketing plans and advertising creative assets and media plans in collaboration with advertising agency, initiating promotional fare requests, and planning and implementing Convention and Visitor Bureaus/Tourism Board partnership programs, etc.)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage budgets and internal and external teams to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of route level advertising/marketing initiatives. Ensure consistency and promote across channels (paid, earned and Amtrak-owned).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement campaigns to target various consumer segments e.g., universities/students, leisure, etc. and report on results.
- Provide marketing support and/or coordination for projects proposed by the state partner to include events, new services, other related marketing activities.
- Establish regularly scheduled calls to ensure positive relationship maintenance, resolve issues and to provide corporate initiatives and updates.
- Maintain new and renewal promotional fare requests with internal and external stakeholders and coordinate with Amtrak.com teams to develop content for the various’ promotional webpages
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain state partner Amtrak microsites and update content as necessary. Provide related data and performance results to State partners.
- Facilitate reservations/ticketing for partnerships/vendor promotions to include familiarization trips, photo shoots and meetings; maintains logs of all activities.
- Develop quarterly and ad-hoc reports to provide info on campaign performance including return on ad spend (ROAS), impressions and other campaign data as available.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or Business Management required or an equivalent combination of education training and relevant work experience.
- A minimum of 6+ years relevant experience.
- Self-motivated and ability to manage multiple tasks and the confidence to independently make decisions based on data/experience
- Superior oral and written communication skills, the highest integrity, and an ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communications skills including experience making presentations to third parties.
- Experience in prioritizing and resolving issues
- Willingness to travel as much as 15%.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advertising agency work experience, either in-agency or as client.
- Strong understanding and the ability to communicate transportation/travel issues.

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary/hourly range is $85,660 - $111,020. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
