Please note that this is a hybrid-monthly position based out of Washington DC. 

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Strategic Pricing Revenue Management (PRM) position is responsible for optimizing ticket revenue. This position represents Pricing Revenue Management when working with Marketing and other commercial organizations and will utilize web, booking, and competitive data to help develop, refine, and analyze revenue strategies. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Revenue Strategies and Tactics
• Own tactical implementation of revenue growth strategies
• Offer creation – lead projects focused on customer facing pricing strategies with Marketing, Prod Dev, etc.
• Represent PRM in cross-functional meetings, identify pricing opportunities, and guide web, channel, marketing, and competitive strategies
• Perform analyses on past, present, and future passenger demand to drive inventory and pricing strategies
• Identify pricing opportunities for PRM to execute
• Work with other departments including but not limited to Marketing, IT, and DSS to develop improved reporting and KPI to help understand both booking and pre-booking behavior (web and third-party data)
Inventory Management/RM
• Optimize revenue for assigned trains by allocating inventory based on passenger demand
• Monitor and analyze critical departures daily and determine appropriate adjustments
• Setting overbooking authorizations to minimize spoilage
• Identify capacity and frequency opportunities for SCP to execute
Continuous Improvement
• Promotional forecasting and ad-hoc analysis
• High-level analytics and assisting in ridership and revenue forecasting
• System development, testing, training, and onboarding (super users)
• Own special event analytics and related reporting
• Competitive benchmarking – analytics and related reporting

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in any Business field, Economics, Mathematics or other related field
• Demonstrated quantitative analysis, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply supply and demand concepts. 
• Understanding of pricing philosophies and its relationship to demand.  
• Experience with revenue management concepts and systems.
• Experience in data mining, forecasting, market analysis, pricing, and/or planning.  
• Experience with Excel and SQL.
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree in Business, Mathematics or other quantitative field

• Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with consumer behavior, web analytics, and marketing.
• Experience with Business Object.
• Experience with R or Python.


COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The salary/hourly range is $94,300-$122,256. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
