SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Lead Service Planner is responsible for leading the development of service plan changes to schedules, consists, fleet, and other aspects of service and operational plans to improve ridership, financial results, and operational performance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Recommends schedule, consist, and other changes based on detailed quantitative analyses of Amtrak train operations and financial performance.
• Develops contacts throughout Amtrak to vet potential proposals and to gather and assess information from other departments.
• Applies a thorough understanding of Amtrak operations across all functions, Amtrak data sources and their proper interpretation, and the interdependent relationships between departments.
• Coordinates cross-functional initiatives to develop, implement, and evaluate service changes.
• Assists in reviews of seasonal route financial performance results and development of service plans.
• Assesses potential financial and operational results of proposed service changes.
• Builds relationships among a diverse group of department managers and staff.
• Works cross-functionally with other Amtrak departments including Commercial Service Lines, Service Delivery & Operations, Transportation, Mechanical, Capital Delivery, Finance, Pricing & Revenue Management, and Market Forecasting.
• Assists in the design and implementation of new analytical tools and reports.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in economics, business, or a related quantitative and/or business field and/or equivalent combination of education and training/experience.
• Outstanding analytical skills and understanding of quantitative concepts.
• Skilled in use of personal computer software and applications (including but not limited to Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Effective writing, presentation, meeting and facilitation skills; interpersonal communication; time management; and conflict resolution and investigation skills.
• Demonstrated experience communicating orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated experience simultaneously managing multiple projects and/or programs using appropriate administrative tools and controls.
• Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree in business or a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven quantitative analysis experience reflecting progressive increases in responsibility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Rail or transportation industry experience.
• Experience with database systems.
WORK ENVRIORNMENT:
Hybrid in Office (minimum 3 days/week), inclusive, and team environment
Must be able to travel as needed (up to 25%)
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary/hourly range is $94,300-$122,256, Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
