SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

 

The Manager, Strategic Revenue Management role is responsible for working with Amtrak’s Revenue Management team and leading the development and execution of traditional revenue management demand optimization strategies. The Manager oversees a team of analysts and will managing day-to-day revenue management tasks to ensure consistency, collaboration, and efficiency. In addition to guiding daily inventory strategies used by Amtrak’s Revenue Management team, analytical projects related to demand, supply (capacity planning), pricing, segmentation, and group bookings will fall under the jurisdiction of this position – all with a focus to drive revenue growth.
The Manager will work on projects with numerous stakeholder groups including Schedule and Consist Planning, Service Lines, Marketing, Market Research Operations, and Finance. As Amtrak expands revenue management into ancillary, this role will help provide analytics in support of pricing, inventory, and performance assessment for those revenue streams. 
The Manager will be considered an expert in revenue management and will be expected to have in-depth, specialized knowledge in the following areas: (a) advanced ad hoc query capability (b) revenue management concepts and practices (c) measurement and reporting methodologies used to evaluate traffic and more than $2.3b in annual ticket revenue. 
The Manager will be expected to drive analytic findings and support Amtrak’s Revenue Management team in training, mentoring, and the establishment of scalable best practices driven by sound analytical methodologies.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


• Support department leader with the development and implementation of inventory and pricing strategies designed to meet department ridership and revenue goals. 
• Work with Schedule and Consist Planning to ensure optimal fleet allocation. 
• Develop the functional skills and abilities of their staff and foster employee engagement
• Develop revenue management new-hire, recurrent, new systems, and reporting training programs, materials, and documentation.
• Analyze KPI reports and evaluate results to proactively identify and resolve issues related to pricing and inventory management.
• Identify improvements to work process in support of Amtrak’s Strategic Plan
• Perform analyses on past, present, and future passenger demand and synthesize insights into actionable recommendation in support of pricing actions, equipment utilization, and marketing promotions.
• Must manage and prioritize multiple project responsibilities simultaneously.
• Individual must be able to present findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in any business field, economics, mathematics or other related fields with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated expertise with revenue management concepts and systems.
• Demonstrated experience in data mining, forecasting, market analysis, pricing, and planning.  
• Ability to aggregate and organize large quantities of data from multiple sources.
• Demonstrated experience with Excel, SQL and other analytical tools.
• Strong stakeholder management and partnership skills. Ability to build relationships throughout business to assure Revenue Management needs are met.
• Expert in revenue management data sources with ability to perform ad-hoc queries.
• Demonstrated quantitative analysis, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply supply and demand concepts.
• Understanding of pricing philosophies and its relationship to demand.  
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions with an appropriate balance of analysis and timeliness.  Must be detail-oriented and able to meet multiple competing demands.  
• Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze and interpret data.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Master’s degree in Business, Mathematics or other quantitative field.
• Relevant work experience in the transportation industry.
• Experience in Amtrak revenue management. 

 

WORK ENVRIORNMENT:

 

• Office environment with collaborative team interaction. Hybrid/Monthly, in office at least once per quarter.
• 10% travel.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

The salary/hourly range is $113,200-$146,664, Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
