SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Manager, Tariffs and Schedules analyzes and develops fare structures and related rules, identifies pricing alternatives and opportunities, and oversees processes to implement pricing directives, policies and procedures. Acts as subject matter expert in the development and implementation of fare programs and pricing strategies and coordinates pricing activity with other departments to ensure optimal results.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•  Responsible for the development and implementation of all fares with the goal of maximizing Amtrak passenger revenue. 
• Acts as subject matter expert in the development of pricing systems and fare- related capital projects. 
• Implements comprehensive business processes and quality control mechanisms to ensure timely, accurate implementation and maintenance of pricing information in Arrow. 
• Manages the maintenance of Amtrak rail and accommodation charges in the RailCalc Pricing system. 
• Oversees the maintenance of fare plan and passenger-type records and associated rules in the Arrow reservation system, and the preparation, publication, and distribution of conductor tariffs used by on-board train personnel. 
• Ensures the integrity of fare information in the ARROW reservation system. 
• Fosters good working relationships with State partners and works proactively with State partners to improve communication and fare strategies. 
• Identify tactical pricing actions to generate revenue from excess inventory. 
• Responsible for training and mentoring new Pricing and Tariff analysts. 
• Performs analysis of trends in fare usage and pricing strategies impacts; evaluate effectiveness of existing and proposed promotional programs.
• Coordinates pricing activity with other departments such as sales, advertising, AGR, and reservations to ensure optimal results.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in developing and implementing automated tariff releases. 
• Working knowledge of Amtrak reservation/ticketing systems and route structures. 
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, supervisory, motivational and team building skills. 
Team player with proven leadership ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills. 
• Bachelor degree, or equivalent education, training and work experience. 
• Strong personal computer skills such as Word, Excel or PowerPoint.


COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
