SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Manager, Investigations, under the direction of the Sr. Manager, Investigations, helps oversee Amtrak’s HR Investigations program and supervises, supports, and evaluates a team of Lead Investigations Specialists and Sr. Investigations Specialists. This group investigates and resolves employee disputes (including complaints of discrimination and harassment). Other key responsibilities include investigating and resolving complex internal complaints and alleged HR policy violations, reviewing investigations for completeness and compliance with Amtrak policies, regularly monitoring the Amtrak Helpline and routing Helpline reports as appropriate, and supporting mandated EEO trainings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supervises and coordinates the work of Lead and Sr. HR Investigations Specialists and helps to align the Amtrak HR Investigations program with organizational goals
• Reviews investigations and proposed employment actions for consistency and completeness
• Ensures Helpline reports and other internal complaints are reviewed and handled in a timely manner
• Investigates complex internal disputes, including complaints of harassment and discrimination, using best practice investigatory procedures
• Prepares polished and effective investigative reports
• Keeps abreast of changes and developments in EEO law
• Advises and assists managers and other internal stakeholders on EEO and Employee Relations related matters
• Coordinates with the Sr. Manager, Investigations to produce useful, accurate and timely data on program trends and work volume
• Facilitates regular HR Investigations staff meetings and case reviews
• Assists with HR projects and initiatives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
• Seven (7) years’ relevant experience, including working in Law, Employee Relations, EEO and/or Human Resources
• Experience leading individual contributors or program
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with sensitive information
• Demonstrated problem solving skills in Human Resources matters
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• PHR or similar professional HR certification preferred
• Experience managing HR professionals preferred
• Experience in unionized environment
• Excellent computer skills including Excel and PowerPoint
WORK ENVRIORNMENT:
• Frequent travel by train
• Significant computer usage
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The salary/hourly range is $113,200-$146,644, Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
