SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position provides Payroll support for biweekly payroll business processes. Works with the Senior Payroll IT Strategy Manager and plays a crucial role in supporting year end activities for Payroll Business team. In addition, this position supports the Senior Payroll IT Strategy Manager through testing integrated modules, upgrades, and enhancements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supporting the Senior Payroll IT Strategy Manager to ensure Human Resources/Payroll system’s integrity.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for management as requested.
- Manages requests of payroll research and data inquiries both internally and externally.
- Lead Payroll UAT support working with cross-functional team to enhance existing application and tax updates.
- Work with payroll department on supporting the biweekly payroll process.
- Payroll Lead working with Business Payroll Technology team in UAT testing to roll out system changes for payroll department.
- Lead working with the Payroll Operation team to assess and determine their reporting needs and /or assist them with testing payroll business processes associated with utilizing Sap Payroll applications.
- Manages process to implement and coordinate payroll business process changes and data accuracy.
- Makes recommendations on work processes and operations for efficiency and ease of use
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Requires 7 years relevant experience.
- Demonstrates a strong payroll partner system testing and test validation.
- Able to apply problem resolution skills to effectively address payroll related business issues.
- Requires ability to communicate with payroll partner system business users.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of general Payroll practices preferred from time, taxes, general ledger and processing.
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
- Business Payroll (Payroll, Time Management) or other Payroll applications.
- Prior experience with Payroll operation and testing.
- Knowledge in Excel and MS office suite of tool sets
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 9+ years of relevant experience preferred, including 4+ years' experience working on HR related data and systems
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Excel and MS Office Suite
- Limited experience with ERP Systems
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary/hourly range is $99,750 - $129,270, Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
