The primary responsibilities will be to provide project and programmatic support to the Police Records and Recruitment Branch of the Administrative Services Division and the Office of Professional Responsibility which together supports the 500+ members of the Amtrak Police Department with business, technology, policy and administrative activities. This internship is intended to start in May 2021 and continue for approximately one calendar year. 



  • Assists with coordination of a wide range of administrative functions in support of a 500+ member railroad policing operation.
  • Assists with audits related to background files, police commissions and training records.
  • Assists with research, development, and implementation of projects on topics ranging from records management to police policy to purchasing to police technology.
  • Presents research results on a variety of administration functions using computer programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Creates, maintains and organizes files and archive documentation.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Position will occasionally travel to Washington, DC to support specific project functions.



  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. 
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice or related field.
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum. 
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.



  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office.  
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
