TITLE:            Principal Cybersecurity Engineer
LOCATION:                 Washington, D.C. (and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.)


DUTIES:     Performs a broad range of complex technical and professional work functions to protect IT systems, network and data across the enterprise. Leads the technical management of internal security systems or tools and implements automation to deliver security principles. Makes technical decisions on security engineering work products to deliver functional and efficient security technologies. Thinks like attackers to identify how solutions may be abused to an attacker’s advantage. Supports the service owner and may serve as a service offering lead in the delivery of security technologies across engineering environments. Leads the evaluation and recommendation of hardware and software systems that provide security functions as aligned to the organization’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Zero Trust frameworks priorities and goals. Leads security assessments of technology systems and recommends system changes to ensure adherence to standards, policy, guidelines, strategies, and security best business practices. Generates, gathers, and tracks security metrics; develops scorecards for the metrics; and communicates the results to technology leadership. Participates in planning sessions related to projects or new technologies to implement process improvement within the functional area.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Employer will accept a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field and seven (7) years of professional experience as a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer or any occupation related to Information Security Analysis. Must also have five (5) years of experience: (1) Deploying, monitoring, and managing enterprise security solutions based on industry-best practices, (2) Configuring Microsoft Defender for Endpoint policy, settings, and capabilities, (3) Configuring endpoint solutions such as SentinelOne and CrowdStrike, (4) Scripting in languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, and PowerShell, and (5) Developing, designing, and architecting enterprise and operational technology security solutions. Must also have three (3) years of experience: (6) Configuring Sentinel and Microsoft Defender for Cloud policy, settings, and capabilities, and (7) Configuring and deploying operational technology security solutions such as passive network sensors. All experience may be acquired concurrently. Remote work permitted in accordance with standard company policy. All positions require pre-employment background check verification and a pre-employment drug screen. 


SALARY:        $160,888 to $179,300 per year
