SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Senior Technology Director OT Architecture will be a technology leader responsible for setting strategy, providing leadership, defining goals, developing architecture direction, prioritizing architecture efforts, resources and delivering results on our business systems technology platforms working with the Senior Director of Architecture.
This role will utilize education, guidance, and governance processes to maximize return on technology investment, and reduce time to capability, while minimizing operational costs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for creating an integrated technology plan to support all of Amtrak.
- Partners with business leaders to develop service strategies, roadmaps and rationalize portfolio
- Key participant in governance and committees that defines the IT mission and recommends IT investments.
- Works with Senior Director IT Architecture to generates appropriate communication, process, and education plans to ensure both IT and Business leaders are aware of the overall architecture posture within Amtrak
- Work with appropriate IT and OT technology leaders to identify key data.
- Develop the Integration Strategy across the suite of OT technologies (Current & Future)
- Provide architectural assurance to projects to ensure that investments are consistent with roadmaps and strategy delivery on long terms goals and represent value for money while delivering on short terms business needs.
- Work in close collaboration Service Executives, Services Owners, and Operations leaders to develop holistic enterprise-wide architectures that enable the overarching Amtrak OT strategy.
- Guide and mentor enterprise and solution architects and designers as part of the delivery of OT projects and programs.
- Collaborate with Operations to develop and drive the IT/ OT strategy and provide leadership in shaping and coordinating an Operational Technology Strategy throughout Amtrak
- Align OT Strategy and Business Strategy with Future Operations Strategy
- Monitor and stay abreast of the development of technology in general to keep Amtrak’s OT strategy current
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information System, Software Engineering, or Engineering or related field with 13+ year’s relevant experience or 17+ years of relevant work experience in business systems, development and/or support functions with a focus on Architecture and Technology Strategy.
- Client expectation management, Program management, financial management and Technology product delivery experience is required.
- 13+ years of relevant technical and business experience with 3 to 5 years of Architecture experience.
- Requires experience working with C-level executives to educate and gain concurrence for the technology architecture standards, roadmaps, and plans.
- Requires demonstrated ability to launch and deliver multiple major architecture initiatives making effective use of staff.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well with others in an integrated team environment, and must be self-motivated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management or similar relevant field
- Rail, Hospitality, Transportation, Engineering or any experience with asset-rich environments
- 15+ years relevant work experience preferred.
- Experience working in large complex companies that heavily rely on real time 24x7 IT operations to successfully service external customers.
- Work is performed in an office environment.
- May require travel up to 10% of the time.
- After hours and periodic shift work may occasionally be required
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary range is $175,500-$227,440. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
