SUMMARY:
The Operations NS Intern will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and supporting various business activities related to Operations Transformation, a strategic initiative designed to enable and accelerate operational excellence. The position will support business transformation activities that drive Operations quality and optimization. Building a railway for the future requires investing in a data-driven Operations and technology-enabled approach.

 

This position offers a comprehensive Operations view into business challenges and practices, in partnership withInformation Technology. This requires agile, innovative thinking to support the successful implementation of projects and the adoption of business and technical solutions through organizational change practices. Applying a systems approach, this position will develop business skills for integrating people, processes, and tools, applying academic knowledge of agile practices and lean standards as well as data visualization and management. This position will support program and project teams to achieve business goals through active engagement with internal and external partners, and Operations leadership. Utilizing Project Management, Organizational Change Management (OCM), and Continuous Improvement disciplines, this position will provide the opportunity to take academic theories and concepts and apply that knowledge to real business transformation challenges utilizing best practices and tools.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Project Management, Business Analysis, and Continuous Improvement
  • Perform project management activities as assigned
  • Attend Project meetings, prepare meeting materials and relevant reports
  • Support the use of project management standards and practices
  • Assist in business analysis, requirement reviews, process flow diagrams
  • Perform spreadsheet data analysis, graphing, and data visualization
  • Develop experience with continuous improvement and business process reengineering
  • Draft status reports, assist with project schedules, presentations, risk management
  • Lead portions of weekly OCM team meetings and present a 30-60-90-day look-ahead schedule

 

Organizational Change Management (OCM)

  • Participate in Organizational Change Management strategies and communication plans for system implementations and transformational initiatives
  • Participate in the development and distribution of communication materials such as:
    • Awareness Bulletins
    • Change Champion Updates
    • OCM status charts
    • Surveys and reporting analysis of survey results
    • SharePoint Support
  • Support site design and content management
  • Perform document management and version control
  • End-user Training Support
  • Review training materials and provide feedback
  • Participate in the validation of training material
  • Participate in training and support with end-users
  • Coordinate project logistics, including calendars, major events, meetings, and applicable materials and equipment

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Marketing/Communications, Organizational Design, Business Management, or Information Management
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Visio
  • Sophomore or Junior candidates are preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and creative
  • Highly energetic with the ability to work independently

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

 

The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one(1) PTO day per academic year.
