SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Sr Director IT – Analytics and Information Management, as the owner of the Analytics and Information Management service area, will be focusing on:
- Delivering comprehensive tools and strategies that allow data to be transformed for decision making.
- Build out, enhancement and scaling of current platform
- Evolving data and analytics capabilities by generating and tracking through an effective roadmap for delivery.
- Transforming data to deliver business insights rapidly across the enterprise to enable competitive advantages.
- Driving capabilities from descriptive and diagnostic to predictive and prescriptive analytics enabling organization success.
- Leading the department in the development of new insights, advanced modeling techniques, and data science capabilities.
The Sr. Director IT – Analytics and Information Management oversees one or more IT services end to end which serve the need of internal or external customers within Amtrak. Data services may span across multiple functional areas also. This role owns the budget associated with their services and ensures optimum utilization of investment against the company priorities. As a Service Owner will be the single point of contact (SPOC) in front of the customer for all aspects of a service and is accountable for ensuring that a service is managed with a business focus. He/she are responsible to the customer for the initiation, elaboration, construction, transition and ongoing maintenance and support of a service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for creating an integrated information technology plan to support one of more IT Services. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Partners with business leaders to develop service strategies, roadmaps and rationalize portfolio.
- Develops and owns service definition and service design partnering with business owners and architecture. Ensures adoption of services within the IT service catalog.
- Participates in the governance board that defines the IT mission, oversees operations, and determines IT investments, pricing, and product strategies.
- Responsible for developing the service strategy and a strategic view to the sourcing options. Comes up with the right criteria to pick the right service offerings suiting the business and customer needs.
- Responsible for planning service budget across both CapEx and OpEx vectors. Track budget and takes appropriate steps to stay within budget.
- Oversees all service offerings within a service and corresponding service delivery teams.
- Responsible for delivering services to business/clients.
- Responsible for managing risk and security within the service in partnership with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and the Risk and Compliance Teams.
- Partners to ensure IT service management processes, operational level agreements and underpinning contracts are appropriate for the agreed service level targets. Provides advice and counsel to the vendor relationship decision making and contract development processes.
- Provides leadership in continuous service improvement.
- Establishes measurable individual and team objectives that are aligned with business and organizational goals.
- Ensures staff has the resources and skills needed to support all work initiatives. Forecasts new skill requirements based on emerging technologies. Participates in IT workforce deployment activities.
- Generates appropriate communication, process, and education plans for mitigating the disruption of change.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information System, or related field with 13+ year’s relevant experience or 17+ years of relevant work experience in business systems, development and/or support functions.
- Client expectation management, program management, financial management and technology product delivery experience are required.
- May require in-depth knowledge of one or more processes/services. Business experience should include assignments in multiple business and technical processes and financial management.
- Position is highly focused on Data analysis and management overview, business cases, and platform scaling
- Experience in building out a platform and scaling for future growth
- Knowledge of Data Analytics Tools (I.E. Informatica, Denodo, Machine Learning)
- Must have expert knowledge in Analytics and Information Management Service Offering.
- Experience managing and building an analytics team, position manages directly and indirectly a team of 70+ employees that include contractors.
- Requires leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and influencing executive level management and key stakeholders.
- Requires demonstrated ability to launch and deliver multiple, concurrent IT initiatives on time and within budget.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well with others in an integrated team environment and must be self-motivated.
- Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors.
- Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
- Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, or similar relevant field
• 15 years relevant work experience
• Experience working in large complex companies that heavily rely on real time 24x7 IT operations to successfully service external customers.
WORK ENVIORNMENT:
- Work is performed remotely, will require traveling for division meetings four times annually
- May require travel up to 20% of the time
The salary/hourly range is $175,660-$227,660, Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
