SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Senior Manager, Long Distance Service Line (LDSL) is responsible for leading analyses and evaluations of near-term operations as well as development of initiatives focused on opportunities to improve and enhance the Amtrak’s Long Distance service.  The Senior Manager is responsible for developing and driving the Long Distance product vision, value proposition and network enhancements.  The Senior Manager is a direct report to the AVP, Commercial Strategy NEC and LD service lines and will collaborate with internal organizations, such as other Commercial departments and Service Delivery & Operations (SD&O).

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develop and monitor performance exceptions and work within the organization to drive results by reviewing and informing opportunities to drive demand, improve customer scores, and increase revenue and ridership. 
• Monitor and evaluate ongoing financial performance of LDSL and identify opportunities for performance improvement 
• Identify LDSL network optimization opportunities and enhancements (through parenting with other Commercial departments such as Service Planning and Revenue Management)
• Strengthen customer advocacy to ensure we do the right thing during service disruptions by working with Customer Experience Desk (CXD) and customer relationship team to better customer communications and processes during a service disruption 
• Develop and drive customer-focused initiatives requiring fleet-related or station-related investments by partnering with Product Development Customer Experience (PDCX) and SD&O to find meaningful improvements to enhance the customer journey     
• Support long-term fleet investment and replacement strategies 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Business, or related fields, or equivalent combination of education and training/experience 
• Ability to communicate complex concepts at all levels.
• Experience with sourcing and evaluating financial and operational information 
• Ability to analyze, synthesize and visualize data and other information to distill meaningful insights
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, self-starter, motivated individual.
• Strong interpersonal skills and organizational awareness, team building skills.
• Ability to prepare and make effective presentations, conducting effective, informative, and productive meetings, planning, organizing, and scheduling.
• Ability to document business processes and data flows.
• Skilled in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 9  years of relevant experience with customer insights, products and services required 

• Demonstrated work experience or education in data analysis
• Experience with customer insights, products and services
• Working knowledge of analytical applications and databases

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Frequently works in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the individual to simultaneously manage several tasks, while paying attention to detail.
• Office work environment.
• Travel 10-20% of time

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

The salary/hourly range is $135,800-$176,040, Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
