This position can sit in the following locations within the Northeast Corridor: Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Wilmington, Maryland, Washington D.C. or Richmond.

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position will support ICT functions for Amtrak’s Terminal and Road operations. Functions will include Terminal operating plans and Network planning for maintenance and consist turns. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Establishes safety as an integral and continuous part of work, motivating personnel and vendors to be proactive, improving safe methods in all activities and reducing risk through mitigation.
• Oversees and coordinates ICT Transportation activities, as related to the project, managing site logistics with Amtrak and Contractor’s personnel. 
• Oversees and leads new equipment design reviews, test requirements, and compliance with Amtrak and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains project data records archives for future recall and review of program activity and progress.
• Investigate and diagnose new and existing incidents using data mining principles.
• Produce maintenance bulletins and procedures to maintain ICT efficiently and safely.
• Develop ICT equipment requirements and specifications.
• Maintain and improve knowledge through research and experience.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree((in a Transportation discipline)) or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
• 7 years of relevant experience required.
• Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply techniques for operational analysis 
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in Reliability Centered maintenance principles.
• Knowledgeable in areas of North American railway safety and regulatory practices including, but not limited to the AAR and FRA rules.
• Knowledgeable of environmental regulations, signal rules, electric traction, passenger equipment operations.
• Qualified on operating rules and have a thorough knowledge of Safety Rules.
• Demonstrated experience in Amtrak rolling stock maintenance in technical roles involving inspections, commissioning new rolling stock, troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of and experience in accepted railway industry quality standards and the ISO quality procedure..
• Excellent written and good oral communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills and a basic understanding of engineering economics.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 9 years of Transportation experience preferred
• Prior experience in train operation or, field transportation manager.
• Working knowledge of Amtrak’s route structure, operating rules and passenger equipment type

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
