The Senior Pricing Analyst is responsible for both development and analytical support for the implementation and maintenance of pricing for Amtrak.  Responsibilities also include analysis and execution of promotions within the systems.

Evaluate promotional activities and corporate programs to ensure alignment with strategic pricing vision.  Implement approved pricing, programs, promotions, passenger type rules, and ticket endorsements.



• Develop and manage pricing strategies, sales and ongoing programs for assigned market(s).

• Collaborate with cross-commercial teams on initiatives and promotions in assigned market(s).

• Coordinate fare adjustments with Pricing & Revenue Management leaders and publish fare updates.

• Maintain current understanding of market and consumer trends and leverage data to develop new revenue strategies.

• Verify and proof advertising of fares and terms and conditions of promotional offers.



• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).

• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

• Minimum 3 years demonstrated quantitative analysis, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret data.

• General understanding of pricing philosophies and their relationship to demand and the ability to apply supply and demand concepts.

• Demonstrated ability to make decisions with an appropriate balance of analysis and timeliness.

• Must be detail-oriented and able to meet multiple competing demands.

• Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

• Experience with software acceptance testing.

• Experience in data mining, market analysis, pricing, and/or planning. 

• Relevant Pricing experience in the transportation industry outside of Amtrak.



• Master’s degree in Business, Mathematics or other qualitative field or an equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.

• Experience with programming and querying languages (i.e. Python, VBA, SQL, etc.)

• Familiarity with Amtrak revenue management data sources with the ability to perform ad-hoc queries.


Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
