Job Summary

Manage train composition and allocation across the Company network, ensuring alignment with the system fleet plan. Dynamically adjust train configurations to maximize revenue and minimize costs, optimizing seat utilization. Provide direction to yards and facilities on train assembly and equipment movement. Monitor equipment for defects and maintenance requirements, coordinating with mechanical facilities for prompt resolution. Lead the development of alternative operational plans during service disruptions, minimizing passenger inconvenience. Coordinate equipment re-balancing to ensure smooth resumption of normal operations.

Essential Functions

  • Provide real-time direction to Division yards/facilities for passenger train composition in line with the System Fleet Plan.
  • Direct manipulation of cars and locomotives to meet Mechanical Department maintenance schedules and Federal regulations.
  • Lead daily equipment conference calls for train composition and equipment movement.
  • Analyze real-time conditions like booking levels and adjust train consists to optimize costs and revenues.
  • Lead capacity planning by monitoring ridership trends and implementing adjustments for maximum revenue.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 3 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 5 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in initiating recovery plans swiftly with limited information during service disruptions
  • Skilled in rallying diverse teams towards common objectives, whether in routine operations or during major disruptions
  • Effective communicator, adept at conveying instructions to field supervision verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite for efficient business operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to diverse stakeholder interactions
  • Available for work across all shifts, ensuring continuous coverage throughout the year

The target salary for the Sr Space and Equipment Control Analyst is $103,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
