The Senior Treasury Operations Specialist is responsible for managing daily cash; leading, implementing and monitoring changes to Amtrak’s banking structure; administering bank accounts and banking services to reduce cost, improve efficiencies, and strengthen cash controls.  Major duties and responsibility include:

•  Rationalize and streamline the structure of bank services and bank accounts
•  Re-bid and select treasury service providers and negotiate service contracts 
•  Analyze and report on bank fees and services
•  Manage daily armored car cash pick up and deposits for Amtrak cash sales at over 200 stations
•  Negotiate and coordinate all aspects of armored car services
•  Open and close bank accounts, resolve bank service issues and discrepancies
•  Assist Amtrak departments requiring banking and cash management services
•  Prepare and analyze daily cash position reports, determine and report funds available for investment or short-term borrowing requirement
•  Ensure transactions and procedures are in accordance with the company control
•  Identify, lead or assist with projects that will reduce cost, strengthen controls, or improve efficiency including the implementation of a treasury workstation
•  Assist with preparation of daily and monthly cash flow forecasts


This is a tiered position; position level will be determined based on the most qualified applicant's years of experience. The position level is at the comple and sole discretion of Amtrak

Lead Amtrak’s bank administration activities and issues, including:


Bank Structure
•  Depository services and lockbox
•  Banking services
•  Bank accounts
•  Issue and manage Requests for Proposal  relating to cash services


Bank Administration
•  Bank account analysis oversight
•  Bank account database maintenance
•  Bank account open and close
•  Inter-department banking services


Treasury Operations for Daily Armored Car Cash Pickup at Train Stations
•  Cash depositing services
•  Negotiate and coordinate armored car collections and service issues


Daily Cash Management & Systems
•  Run treasury cash position reports
•  Invest daily excess cash in accordance with internal policy
•  Manage daily cash wire transfers


•  Cash forecasts


•  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other related field. Or relevant years of work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

•   3 years of relevant work experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and/or work experience

•  Some experience in cash management, treasury or finance field
•  Cash management technical expertise
•  Treasury workstation experience
•  Strong accounting and finance background
•  Strong quantitative and analytical skills 
•  Proven leadership and project management skills
•  Mastery of Excel
•  High ethical standards
•  Strong work ethic


  • Master's Degree
  • 6 years of relevant work experience
  • SAP knowledge and BPC software
  • CCM / CTP

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
